David and his wife Karin have done a wonderful job of hosting international students for the past 5 years. This made it easy for David to step into the role of local coordinator in his area of NW Oregon. David is always there for his students, for counseling, support, and even to give them a temporary place to stay if necessary. Since he was retired it makes it easy to accommodate the needs of the students. He says that so far this has been an enlightening experience and challenging to keep up with teenagers again and to try to understand their needs and to provide counsel when needed. David and Karin, and Italian 'daughter' Marta, live in Columbia City and David places students in the St. Helens, Rainier, Clatskanie and Vernonia school districts.
