This book is very
realistic about what life with exchange students is like,
in a humorous but practical and realistic way. There's ups and downs and in the end the experience
is worth it. Joan Smith is very good at giving you a glimpse
into her life with three exchange students.

An
excellent book for an exchange student - it provides a realistic view of what
going on an exchange will really entail. It covers settling
in, homesickness, culture shock, making friends, learning
the language, getting ready to leave, and "reverse culture
shock" -- coming home again. |

Helps with students that come from very
different cultures than the United States. This book is
helpful discovering different ways to explain to families
concepts such as "unspoken rules" and helps families
understand their undetected cultural biases.
